Letter from the boss...

Well, it's just some people, the public, got some kids and things like that. They want their kids to go to school and get their education. And everything. And get this, my mom and dad taught me and my brothers and my two sisters. Listen first, which one is the right, they don't believe you. Maybe they believe the devil. And the worlds there for you guys to learn and if you do that and everything maybe your life will turn around and things will go the right way. That's what I did. I always do things and if I don't like to do that, I do. And, I was just doing up the dishes. I do the dishes. Cook the dinner. I mop the floors. I love to cook. Bake. Canning. And things like that. And everything. Half of my family was there. He fixed the dinner and everything. My dad and my mom. Who did the dishes?' Patsy did! She always cleans up. No dirt no nothing around. I always do. I still do it. And everything. I don't mind doing that. And everything until this day. I'm still doing that. I want to take a break, then I take a break. I ain't nobody's slave. That's the end of the story. Cause I want to do things for myself. I got a right to do that. And everything, so if I get a place of my own, that's what I'm going to do, do things for myself. That's the end of that.

I want some copies made of that. I want to take it home . I will put it in the picture frame so they can read it over there on my wall. Cause I love you guys up here, every single one of yous.

From the farm...

See the peas popping up! See the ambitious amount of arugula popping up in bed 7! Potatoes! Three kinds!

Garlic is so very happy...what will it look like when it makes scapes? Garlic will be a-scaping.

We have a greenhouse. To move it in, we must clear space by the shipping containers in the annex. Then we will have maybe the most fun ever potting up the starts and making the rounds of nigh-1,000 starts. Fun to think about this.

We have ducks coming in but a few weeks. This will mean duck-lings, the younger sort of duck. Still with a beak and all, but smaller. They are Indian Runners, the lot of them. Their colorations are Fawn and White, Chocolate, and Blue. They will be good friends.

The Omega coop is on its way! The compost is getting pretty covered by hardware cloth and such. This will hopefully channelize the rats into known avenues. There is a rat in the shed. Hopefully this will get resolved when we do an omega-clean and rat-deterrent on the structure.

The Omega arbor is in progress! The chain-link is all gone by the south-end of the farm, with a more reasonable entryway in its place. There will be a big huge secure trellis across the top of the arbor, allowing for a couple of kiwi vines to work their way up and over! Kiwi's are cool. Some are terrifically hardy, and can produce hundreds of pounds of fruit per plant.

The new lot (the "Annex") is looking surprisingly good, in terms of opportunistic plants. Not too many Blackberries! We have them on the run. Digging and hoe-ing will do them in. There will be a few more loads of taking yard debris off site, but soon enough it will be a majority of bringing material into the site.

Very good!

John's jokes...

What does a robber do in a store?
→ He tends to steal things.

What does a trucker do when he's out of diesel fuel?
→ It waits for a tow truck and tries not to fall off the mountain.

What do people do when they get a strange knock on the door?
→ They start to hide.

What do people do in a hotel room when it says "do no disturb?"
→ Oh, they don't do anything.

What do people do when they make blueberry cobbler?
→ They tend to eat to much of it.

What happens when a horse eats a potato?
→ It doesn't seem to be there anymore.

Ok! What do you do when a person thinks they have too many rights?
→ Throw them in the trash can.
